§117.13(a). Not acclimated: −30 minutes, and the band comes from local time at your last-acclimated theater (§117.13(b)). Deadheads are duty but not segments when picking the column.
Table C — FDP, augmented, by rest facility × pilots
| Report (acclimated) | Cl 1 · 3p | Cl 1 · 4p | Cl 2 · 3p | Cl 2 · 4p | Cl 3 · 3p | Cl 3 · 4p |

§117.17(a). Same −30 min non-acclimated rule (§117.17(b)). Max 3 segments (§117.17(d)). 2 h in-flight rest in the second half for the landing pilot; 90 min for the monitoring pilot (§117.17(c)).
Table A — flight time, unaugmented; 13/17 h augmented ceilings
| Report (acclimated) | Max flight time |
| 0000–0459 | 8 h |
| 0500–1959 | 9 h |
| 2000–2359 | 8 h |
§117.11(a)(1). 3-pilot crew: 13 h; 4-pilot crew: 17 h (§117.11(a)(2)–(3)). Table A and Table B run in parallel — whichever you hit first stops the day.
Cumulative caps — §117.23 (all flying for any certificate holder counts)
- 60 h FDP in any 168 consecutive hours (§117.23(c)(1))
- 190 h FDP in any 672 consecutive hours (§117.23(c)(2))
- 100 h flight time in any 672 consecutive hours (§117.23(b)(1))
- 1,000 h flight time in any 365 consecutive calendar days (§117.23(b)(2))
- Extensions under §117.19(a) may not breach the FDP caps (§117.19(a)(3))
- Post-takeoff extensions may exceed the caps (§117.19(b)(3)) and get reported
- It is a rolling window — not a calendar week
Rest rules — §117.25
10 h / 8 h: at least 10 consecutive hours free of all duty, measured from release, containing a minimum 8-hour uninterrupted sleep opportunity (§117.25(e)). If it won't — notify the company; you cannot report until you receive a compliant rest (§117.25(f)).
- Nothing on rest: reserve availability, training, admin work, answering schedule emails — any assignment during rest makes the rest non-compliant (§117.25(a)).
- 30 h free of duty somewhere in the past 168 h, before any reserve or duty period (§117.25(b)) — rolling window.
- Acclimation: 36 consecutive hours of rest in a new theater makes you acclimated and satisfies the 30-hour rule (§117.25(c)).
- 56 h post-trip: >60° longitude traveled while away >168 h → 56 h rest on return covering three physiological nights' rest (§117.25(d)).
- Deadhead overrun: deadhead beyond your Table B limit → rest equal to the deadhead length, never less than the 10-hour minimum (§117.25(g)).
Reserve — §117.21
Short call: RAP ≤ 14 h (§117.21(c)(1)). Combined FDP + RAP from RAP start: the lesser of Table B + 4 h or 16 h unaugmented (§117.21(c)(3)); Table C + 4 h augmented (§117.21(c)(4)). Both may get +2 h for unforeseen circumstances (§117.19(a)(1)).
- Airport/standby reserve: all time in status is FDP, and it must be designated as such (§117.21(b)).
- Long call into the WOCL (0200–0559): 12-hour notice of report time (§117.21(d)).
- Long-call → short-call shift requires a §117.25(e) rest first (§117.21(e)).
Extensions, split duty & nights
- Unforeseen, pre-takeoff: PIC + company may extend FDP up to +2 h (§117.19(a)); over 30 min only once per 30-hour break; 10-day report if >30 min over.
- After takeoff: fly as far as needed to land safely (§117.19(b)) — also §117.11(b) for flight time.
- Split duty: ≥3 h in suitable accommodation, 22:00–05:00, scheduled pre-FDP, combined FDP + break ≤ 14 h (§117.15).
- WOCL 0200–0559: max 3 consecutive infringing FDPs — 5 only with a ≥2 h accommodation rest in each (§117.27).
- Fitness: report rested (§117.5(a)); no assignment if too fatigued (§117.5(b)); company must stop the FDP if you report yourself too fatigued (§117.5(c)).
- FRMS: no Part 117 provision may be exceeded without FAA-approved FRMS (§117.7(a)).
